Erin's Senegal Overview
- Erin has secured 5 Exploration Licences, is in joint venture negotiations on 1 other (Wassadou South), and holds the option to secure a further Licence (Wassadou North) within the Kedougou Inlier, Senegal.
- A total of 45 million ounces of gold in resources is reported from the Kedougou Inlier which forms part of the West African Gold Province.
- The Kedougou Inlier hosts the Sabodala Mine (1.4Moz) in Senegal, and the Loulo Mine (17Moz), Sadiola Mine (14Moz) and Gounkoto Mine (3Moz) in neighbouring Mali.
- Erin's Bouroubourou Project lies 16 kilometres northeast of the Sabodala Mine and covers areas of extensive artisanal workings and gold-in-soil anomalies extending over 3 kilometres in 2 structurally controlled zones. Targets for follow up RAB fence drilling have been defined.
- The Lingokoto Project lies approximately 14 kilometres west of the Loulo Gold Mine and includes 3 extensive zones of previously un-explored gold-in-soil anomalies. Targets for follow up RAB fence drilling have been defined.
- The Saraya Project is made up of 3 exploration licences (Woye, Balakonko and Garaboureya - Southern Portion) on which have been identified a number of untested gold anomalous zones. One in particular on the Woye Permit is associated with a zone of anastimosing structure (dilation), interpreted northeast structure and in proximity to an area of recent gold prospect development. Targets for follow up RAB fence drilling on at least one of these have been defined.
- Two areas, one the subject of joint venture negotiations (Wassadou South) and the other currently under due diligence evaluation, are located within, or are on extensions to, defined gold mineralising systems.
- Senegal introduced a new Mining Code in 2003 to attract mineral resource development. It is a politically stable democracy with attractive foreign investment rules.
- Recent developments include the country's first large gold mine at Sabodala and a world class mineral sands project moving to production.
